Questions asked frequently > GENERAL TANK FAQs > What are the Waterwall tanks made of?
All Waterwall tanks are made from high density polyethelene [HDPE]. This tough plastic is long lasting and designed to withstand the weather. The material used has UV resistance and high color density, to ensure your tank holds its color and is impervious to light; it is also approved by the FEA for use in containers for potable [drinking] water.
The raw material used has compounded color - this means the plastic is extruded with the color in it. Many tanks are made with a mix of color and clear plastic ground together, resulting in 'pixelation' of color - some nuetral bits, some color bits. Compounded resin ensures that even a pale colored tank is still opaque, which dramatically reduces the chances of algae growing in your tank.
